I need a server admin who can watch over our level one techs in the off peak hours and make sure they are handling things correctly.
We use cPanel control panel. This technichian should be adept with all issues Linux. Programming in PHP and Perl is a requirement for night time programming jobs that can be completed while you are "on the clock" since it is usually extremely slow, it would be nice for you to handle other needs of our small hosting company.
You would be responsible for monitoring of about 25-30 servers. Weekly and monthyl audits of services like successful updates and backup checks. Occasional systems administration will also be required.
You will need to fully understand our escalation policy and how to handle downed servers.
You can be from any country, but must be English speaking.
You will not be doing very much, but you will be expected to be there for when issues arrive. I cannot stand it when a server has been down for 3 hours and the level one techs have identified a problem, but nothing to resolve it.
I expect resolution (unless it needs to be handled at the datacenter) within one hour for the 8-12 hour shift we agree upon.
As for pay, it is undetermined. it will be based on experience, skill, and will increase over time as your experience with the comapany grows. I am thinking in the area of $300 to $400/mo which is not a bad number considering local pay scales in several countries this is excellent monthly pay for minmal work.
The fact that there is little to do, it is an easy job if you know what you are doing, and the fact that you can work for someone else while working our shift.
I do not have a problem if you are currently supporting 1 or 2 other sites during these hours to suppliment your income from us, however you need to be available to handle a major problem if one were to arise. You cannot be working for so many companies that if we have a major problem, and the the other companies do at the same time, that your hands are tied and cannot give the support we require.
If your performance and availability are on target, you will receive $150/mo pay increase after 2 months as we will drop our level one support team and pay you what they make.
We do not want solicitations from outsourced support companies along the lines of bobcares, actsupport, or similar unless you can provide us with a dedicated technician for those rates. Dedicated meaning they are not working more sites than 3.
We will consider shipping you a Voice over IP telephone system that can be used for making calls to the United States free of charge after you have established yourself as a reliable and trustworthy employee.

The only time we are not relaxed is if you are not performing your agreed upon duties
