Illegal to forecast the weather?

Interesting link about a new bill in the Senate that would prohibit the National Weather Service from issuing any forecast besides those warning of severe weather......Doesnt seem like a bad idea seeing as 1/2 the time they get it wrong anyway

For some reason in this screwed up government, I see this happening.

I do have one question for those who are pushing for this bill, namely, accuweather (if I am not mistaken), where do you get the data you are using from? Is it not the NWS Radars and Satellites that provide you data?

As a taxpayer, we should have every right to this information. And why stop it now, everything is in place. It would be stupid.

So is the next thing to happen be a Bill to ban the cable companies from carrying TWC or even regular airwaves carrying the news who broadcast the weather.

Whoever thought of this is a pure retard. If you cant make the money with the way the market is, then you need to either get out of the business, or as a business offer something to the market that will make you the money.

As long as they stop those annoying "tests" where they play that god-awful sound, I'm cool .

Actually, we (USA) are already paying for weather services in the form of NASA as well as NOAA (govornment agencies). The bill will technically require us to pay twice for the services.

Not to mention the possible implications of making weather "for pay". Commercial travelling (road, water & air) costs will skyrocket to pay for the company to "buy" weather info. Imagine how much consumer goods will cost when the highway freight companies have to start paying to get updated weather info (which dopper is 4 minutes slow to begin with). See a pattern?

"Big mac meal? $5.15....plus fries would be $99.99"
