There seem to be many good reasons to stay away from meinhosting, not the least of which is that they are a bunch of thieves.
http://www.meinhosting.com/mhdemos/
They have stolen $280 worth of Flash files from my site.
I hate having to chase scum...

Do you know offhand which datacenter houses their servers? I suspect my C&D will fall on deaf ears and I'll have to escalate my actions higher up.

I go through all the trouble registering to this forum just to say this
MEINHOSTING suck so damn much.
I bought their hosting from ebay, paid, got all info etc, the support was very prompt . Alright everything was OK. Then, the next day, the server becomes unresponsive almost the whole day. I send them a request for a refund. ( since they have a 7-day refund policy) , they contacted me asking for Paypal subsription ID, I sent them together with all the related information, my domain name, server ip, login etc.
Never heard from them ever since. EVER. NO Refund whatsoever. What a bunch of jackasses. I hope their house get bulldozed. And oh yeah, the address appeared on meinhosting.com whois database is fake.

meinhosting.com just scammed me...
suspended me, charged me money, I paid, they charged me more money, I paid...
They email all my clients requesting money from them to get their files...
now, no response...I just saw an ebay auction for their reseller package end with a winner...I feel sorry for the winner of that auction.

it seemed like the only way to pay was thru paypal?
do you think that paypal will refund the money that I set to meinhosting to un-suspend me?
I also called layeredtech and they do not know who meinhosting was.

Where did you hear of this company at? Sounds odd when only accepting paypals. Maybe I am wrong but my opinion.

I have moved about 3 clients away from Meinhosting in the past, they are one of the worst hosting companies about. I suspect their server reboots every few hours are done to keep their server load down and fit more people on.

When you do report them to ebay and paypal...
tell ebay and paypal that you know other people that have reported them for this scam...I have all emails and claim tickets
How many people have to report a scam before ebay and paypal do something?

Here is a direct quote from their ebay ad:
"Dont be impressed by untrue slogans - we have a lot of customers coming to us after being scammed by other sellers. Actually most of them only allow .html and images on their webspace. Some even suspend the service without warning and a lot of the "hosting companies" dont even have their own servers but are just resellers."
I hate the dicks at meinhosting!
Thanks mcfc4eva you got me all mad again!!!

haha, sorry buddy!
I dunno if it was already posted in this forum/thread but did u know that it's basically just a one man band, from living in malasia or some middle eastern company, claiming he runs 200 servers in 2 datacentre's.... the thing is, these servers are based in the US, bloody long commute every day?

it would actually make more financial sense, if he actually ran a proper operation. recurring revenue and new customers.
dont see the point in scamming people.
just ignore sites like this.http://www.licensetohost.com

yeah, and unfortunately these "bad guys" seem to be getting away with it no matter what people say.
Hopefully some day the new customer well, will dry up for companies like that.http://www.licensetohost.com

i suppose, finding the guys business address and filing legal action against him.
You could try and report him to his data center and see if they can do anything to help, but it's probably not going to do much good.http://www.licensetohost.com

Hey everyone,
i found this thread, because I was gonna write a similar one to warn others.
My story:
I got an account paid and the problems began...
-several of their guaranteed services weren't granted by either ignoring or answering rudely basically stating to "**** off"
(don't wanna repeat stories here...we've heard it a few times in this thread)
what I did: luckily i tested this account during the 30day money back guarantee so I told them that I don't want this deal.
They have never ever got back to me that fast!!!! However they just replied:
"Give us a reason!"
I do not have to do that as a customer in that case, but I stayed friendly and replied politely. The answer to tht mail took a bit longer and resulted in:
"We don' except those reasons. You are welcome to go and pay another webhoster, but you won't get your money back!"
I hate stuff like that and usually get really pissed of on this stuff ..
no difference this time!
So I wrote them back (using the tone they used-maybe they don't understand anything else) that I talked to my lawyer (which I didn't) and that he advised me not to even warn them again but sew them. Additionnally I told them, that I was writting for Magazines in the Industry (I actually am from Germany living in OZ atm, so I know quite a few of those mags ) and told them some names.
As I said, I got pretty rude, because people like that are conteminating the world (I believe actions like those are like viruses, that start spreading, because people get frustrated and frustrated people react frustrated as well...lablabla)
...
So I caused at them stating that they don't want to be mentionend in one of my articles, which 10seconds later was prooven right....lol
They even improoved on answering and in the tone they were using:
"Dear Mister ..., we are more then happy to wire transfer you your money back as soon as we have your account details" ... ridiculous!!!!!
I was at work at that time, so didn't reply right away, which resulted in another eMail:
"Dear Mister....
I just talked to my boss and we decided to assist you in transfering your account data to your new provider for free, so you don't have any hazzle with this. We will refund you the domainregistrationfee as well as a settlement for your troubles. We hope you your business will be succesfull in the future."
=> I didn't want the registration fee back, since that was a service they did deliver, but got my money back within a week. I know it was only like 30bucks or so, but the way they work just annoyed me and they were asking for it.
OK, however, after reading this thread I decided to start initiating legal actions.
I do not have the time and money to spend taking those idiots to court, which is quite unrealistic from OZ anyways. However there is other ways.
1. There are authorities (e.g. UCLAF - Eurpean ... - I know switzerland isn't in that union, but this company deals internationally (e.g. the company registering their domains is located in Germany) and therefore it is on the behalf of that authority. And even if I am wrong (which I quite easily might) they will know the addresses to pass it on to
2. There is heaps of ****** TV-Shows around 5p.m. in Germany that are longing or sensational stuff like that
3. spread the word in other forums
4. spread the word in magazines
Why am I writting this thread ? I think in order to get authorities', tv's and magazines' attention it needs more then one guy to state his case
so whoever is in on that an has some sort of proof, let me know (PM )
it's on ....
cheers
