    Mysql error 2002

    Hello ALL,

    Mysql is not working. I did every thing i know. Please help. I am a newbie to Mysql. these are the
    errors i am getting.

    tail -f /var/lib/mysql/
    050617 2:51:00 InnoDB: Error: unable to create temporary file; errno: 30
    050617 2:51:00 Can't init databases
    050617 2:51:00 Aborting

    050617 2:51:00 InnoDB: Warning: shutting down a not properly started
    InnoDB: or created database!
    050617 2:51:00 /usr/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown Complete

    050617 02:51:00 mysqld ended

    [/tmp]# mysql
    ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

    [/tmp]# cat /etc/my.cnf
    set-variable = max_connections=500
    port = 3306
    socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
    tmpdir = /tmp
    port = 3306
    socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

    [/tmp]# service mysql stop
    No mysqld pid file found. Looked for /var/lib/mysql/

    Some one help ASAP. Thank you.

    The tmp pratition (or wherver mysql stores it's temp data) might have become full providing the first error. A bad shutdown or several other things can cause you to loose the sock file. Have you tried a reboot?

    want to know php/mysql database ip address

    Anybody tell me how to find the php/mysql database ip of domain.. I have site www . spellfinder . com and my programmer asking it's database ip to connect the software to website database..... I have search on cpanel , but couldnt find anything ... Plz help me to find it... thanks

    You can check it through shell

    login using the corresponding username ,

    and try with

    #mysql -u username -h localhost (if you dont have any password)
    or try
    #mysql -u username -h localhost -p
    #mysql -u username -h Localhost -p
    #mysql -u username -h -p

    you can use the correct combination on your coding.
    Choose the right option ... The world is open for You..
