It also would have been nice if you had a more detailed subject, so we don't have to waste our time seeing what you're asking.

you just spent the last 5 posts saying nothing ...

Why would this work any differently than any other server? The only thing I can find different on this server is the case. Others seems standard.

I would say that i386 is i386. If it runs windows XP, I'm pretty sure it will run a flavor of Linux. For $1000, its a pretty good buy no doubt.

What's to say? There was nothing exceptional about the boxx server in the last post either as it's just a standard 1U dual xeon server.

I personally would have just went for a new dell Dual Xeon 1425SC for that much money, but I'm sure that one will work fine.

the 1425 uses a lower end chipset ... they're pretty bad machines - we have a few and they're pretty bad compared to 1850s

they are just standard 1u machines with flanges so fit the backing screws then just bolt them in. If they are heavy you might want to contact the manufacuter to see if they offer any form of mounting kit (rails, etc)

A proper 1U case for a Dual Xeon is gonna cost a few hundred bucks.

Yeah, I'm still using all PE1850's as I haven't been crazy about the PE750's, or PE1425SC's. Still.. I could really use a solid low power 1U.

Normally I always use 4post rails but if it's just for that server, why not just set it on top of another server that has 4 post rails and bolt it in with the two ears. That's probably a standard 1U Supermicro case, I doubt a 4post kit would run more than $100 or so.
