I recently wrote an ebook and is planning to sell it online. Should I use one of the big name hosts(ex. yahoo, hypermart) for around $30 per month or use one of the smaller hosts that only charges around $10 a month. Thanks for helping.
It depends - are you wanting to use Yahoo for the merchant account as well? If so - then yes. (and actually never I have never heard of hypermart).. but anyway, most customers will not even know who you are hosting with. Are you also looking for a shopping cart?
Look at the features that the hosting company offers and see if that will suit you.
Take your time, maybe sign up and check things out for a few weeks before going live
Thanks for answering!
I probably don't need a shopping cart since my website sells only one ebook. The website is likely to hold only a few simple pages with a Paypal checkout(I am not going to use merchant account for now). After payment, the ebook will be sent to the customer via email. Should I go for a big name host or a smaller one? Thanks again for answering!
In that case, any old host will suffice, as it seems you dont have any special requirements. Depending on the expected traffic, just a small shared hosting plan to begin with will do - just make sure you can upgrade later on if need be.

1. Make a press release about it, and send email to both big & smaller hosting companies about your ebook by adding some special features on it.
2. Ask other webmasters to links to it, or you may also try for exchanging the links.
3. Announce it in automotive forums, highlighting its usefulness and features.
