need hosting
My search for a realiable web host continues ...
Can anyone reccomend a web host with the following
1. hosts adult content (porn)
2. runs php and mysql on any unix os
3. accept PayPal
I like to build relationships and know who i'm working with so a smaller company or individual who manages servers would be great.
Please let me know A.S.A.P as i've been let down, again. This time by IncognitoNetworks.com - a joke of a web host. There has been downtime on apache, mysql or ftp every day since I signed up and the server itself went offline a number of times. Amazingly [sarcasm], there own website does not suffer any of this!

Thomas,
You might check out Site5.com. However, I'm not sure off-hand if they allow adult content. Might want to e-mail them on that though.Simpli Networks, LLC :: http://www.simplinetworks.com :: Proudly 100% Owned.

If you want to build a great relationship with a hosting company, you might want to go with a small host and get to know the people that run it.

It wont be hard to find small hosts who manage their own servers here in WHT. Most of the offer you can find in here are from small and familiar host. Hope you can find a host that fit your needs.

keep in mind most hosts don't spell out "WE ALLOW ADULT" it's most often burried in their TOS / AUP.

Thomas, do be sure to find hosts who have their own server instead of being a reseller to someone else.
It would be a really good thing if they have their own server cause you wouldn't have to worry much. But if they're just a reseller, then I guess you'd be in a BIG jam!
Ps. Allowing adult content is usually not the problem, the real problem arises when you get allegations of copyright and etc.Aaron Ong

in which case you most likely don't want to have a host thats just leasing a server, serious busineses (and more often than not adult, since it's big $$)host with serious companies, would you trust your business site to some kid leasing a server and you in turn share that server with dozens of other sites that could potentially get that server pulled off the network by the datacenter at any time?

Hey Tulip, that's unfair to say...
I've actually got my server pulled a few times before for no apparent reason and when I called up my DC, they told me... Oops, we must have pulled the wrong cable or something.
This happens a lot with the local service that I got over here. I have a lot of CoLo's around but I do have some leased ones as well. Leased servers are just as good as the CoLo ones (most of the time), if you don't have many things to do with the server like upgrades and stuff like that.Aaron Ong

Thomas I suggest you:
- do a search here for "adult" and browse thru the threads to see which hosts allow and/or specialize in adult hosting.
- make a short list.
- search again for reviews and feedback.
- email them a few questions to gauge response times and communication skills.
Be objective when reading feedback/reviews and remember that no news is often good news. Especially when the host participates in the forums and has a high post count. People tend to report negative experiences more so then positive ones.• Ddos, DOS, Brute force protection • White Label Reseller Hosting. • Proactive Server Management

Thomas,
<shameless plug>
You can also check out kneadingu's site - uncensored-hosting.com, he allows adult content (and provides it himself, I guess, too).

Thomas,
Adding on to kneadingu's list of suggestions, you may also want to check out some ot the adult webmaster forums (ie netpond, weboverdrive, GFY etc.) for feedback on hosts who cater to the adult content crowd.
