1.) Can a windows hosting use php? I mean on omnis.com, they offer linux hosting which has php...but for windows hosting, they offer asp.net... i want php, but i want to know if i can get it with windows hosting.
2.) Omnis, site5 or something else?
I hear a lot of recommendations for site 5, and this is what i am after, or something like it... [i think i might need half these things if i decide i want something erratically changed and i figure i may as well get something that i dont nede to change from]
Disk Space: at least: 2 Gigs Data Transfer / Bandwidth: at least 30-40gigs [or something around it]
Cpanel sub-domains at least 10 24/7 FTP Access with at least 4 FTP Users Web-Based FTP File Manager, Site Manager custom error pages call me stupid but i really like custom ones.
support for PHP4, PHP5, Perl, frontpage
Flash, Shockwave, Multimedia Support
CGI-Bin, MySQL Database, phpmyadmin,
web stats and logs + reports for bandwidth.. and if pos realtime logging.
POP3 mailbox (unless IMAP and SMTP) is good. (at least 7)
Some sort of password protect
daily backups [if pos]
Web Mail Access with
Email Forwarding/Email Aliases and all that jazz.
live servers and live chat help,...24/7 email support services.
shopping cart enambled [i didnt know you really needed ecommerce enabled or anything..whoah]
3.) i have used findmyhosting.com and the feedback doesnt even have site5 or omnis listed...
4.) I checked out powweb and was actually going to use it until it was suspicous that their tuesday special finished in an hour...and the day after that very offer finished in 12 hours. [oooh]
5.) What i want is a site using php [i dont need a program for this, do i?] and macromedia flash.... I will need 24/7 ftp access to get things uploaded. I would also like some sort of email with my own @ domain name... and yea.... I need the transfer gig because i will have music playing and an interactive sort of site...with pictures and ..and.. i dont know i want to be safe and have lots of bandwidth and disk space for holding maybe even personal photos of friends [instead of using photobucket]
6.) Any help would be good. i used WHT search and somethings are rather old..i would LOVE to have some updated feedback on these webhosting services to get an idea
7.) Thankyou to the people that helped me fix the problem with my reseller ... i have my domain transfered to namecheap.com.. thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!
ps.) maybe there could be a sticky on all the possible web hostinf services and some reviews immediantly in the post... and we can keep updating that... ... it would be better replying to an "02 post and realising the services have probably changed...
Site5 would be my recommendation. Confucius say "Hosting should be grown into, not out of."

Yes, PHP and MySQL function very nicely on Win2k3 servers.
Hope this helps; good luck and best wishes.

I am not sure why you prefer Windows servers, unless you want an application like ASP. Linux-based ones are used by most hosting companies. Site5 is a company I use and like. There's also Micfo and DreamHost, to name some others. I really don't know any Windows host I want to recommend.
