    display html tags

didnt know if this was really programming, but since i am using php to do most everything in my site, figured it was.

i have users entering data, and then it comes up(somewhat like what a forum does i suppose), and i want to make it so that if they enter html tags, say <a href="example.php">click here</a> that it doesnt display a link, but just simply displays the code itself.

i know it has to be possible, just havent found it yet!
