I was looking around the forums and read stories that netfirms charge your CC with $99 hosting like 2 months after you register a domain and I got worried. I registered a domain with netfirms back in March. They charged me $4.95. I do not have any problems with them up to now. After reading reviews just now, I quickly logged in and checked my billing history and everything, and saw nothing else besides the $4.95. Hosting plan is still at basic/free.
So my question is, do they send you an email informing you about the hosting or does the hosting plan even appear in the billing history? because I did not get any emails, theres nothing new in the billing history, and its my 3rd month with them.
Anyways, how do you cancel the account? I decide not to take the risk and want to transfer my domain and they still have my dad's CC info!
When you feel uneasy with Netfirms just unlock your domain
and transfer it to a different registrar. As long as you have total
control over your domain it's no problem.
Regarding the credit card issue....
You could change the credit card details in your account manager
to something like 0000 0000 etc before closing the account. Check
the options that are available in your account. And you can always
do a chargeback when you get billed uncorrectly.
