    What is Up With Avidhosting

My website has been hosted with avidhosting for a number of years...I was always happy with their service and uptime until December of 04... since then, its gone downhill.

I was told there was a hacking problem and then more recently told there was some other problem which causes their server to be shut down.

To make a long story short, my website is down almost daily... some days for a few hours and other days for a few minutes.

I have been loyal to them, but now feel that since I get most of my business from the internet and currently have good positioning with search engines, I need to move to another more reliable host.

Does anyone know what is really going on with them?

Odd, Dec 4 is my birthday!

I do think it's time to look for a new host though, especially since you rely on your site being up to bring you business.

Unfortunatly, I cannot comment on Avidhosting as I have never used them, nor heard anything about them before.

Edit: Just visited their website...massive overselling I'd say...

We have been very nervous about moving to another hosting company. We are afraid that we will lose our positioning with google. We already signed up with another hosting company a few months ago..but have done nothing as far as moving the site, because we are so worried about screwing up our positioning. I just wish Avid was the way they used to be.

why worry about your possition at google...

usually the book the exact location(dn) instead of the IP
So shift your website, sync it anyway possible and change the dns entry's. One day later all will be fine and it seems nothing happened.

TwiLightINC is correct. They go by address, not IP. I switched to a FavHost because it was a bigger hosting package then what I had, and cost less. I lost no ranking with any of my sites.

Backup your website, and move to a new host

If you have been loyal to them, yet they cannot provide you the service you deserve, then it is time to move on.

Some hosts provide you extra facilities when you move, some for free some for a charge. As the sales before signing up that if they provide such migration service. Most do. best of luck.

Our website was down again today for an hour and 10 minutes. This has been happening everyday for 6 months.

Now we can't get our mail and they say there is an issue with the mail server.

We are going to make the switch tonight...but in the meantime, why are these people so lousy now when they were good before?

We have gone ahead and made the jump to another hosting provider... "gulp".... we switched the dns stuff but have left the old sight up while everything propagates...

was that the right thing to do??? I'm assuming as long as the old site is still up with the old host, it will continue to be seen until everything has gone through its cycle.

Tell me, we did this correctly?

Yes, as long as you tested things and everything works OK on the new server.

Good luck with your new host!

Well, it looks like it propagated overnight ..... I thought it would take a few days. The only problem we're having is getting our forms to work on the new system. ..for now, we're using temporary ones.

Well, I wanna thank you guys for giving us the confidence to make that change.

So I guess its time to tell Avid that we're outa there.

I cannot post my site with the WARNING I would like to include here because I apparently need 5 posts in order to post a URL.

But it is a warning regarding avidhosting. I see these posts are clear back in Jun 2005, and this is 2007 and the owner is still defrauding and spamming the public and still getting away with it. Unbelievable!

I am a victim of Avidhosting, along wiith several people that have contacted me through my website. From what I understand through various contacts, it is now owned by an Ernesto Haberli - a known porn-promoting spammer.

I had to fight to get my domains back that he stole from me, and he and I exchanged "words" in email and I let him know how angered I was at the way avidhosting blantantly stole my domains! He also embezzled money from my bank account until I finally had to cancel my account and credit cards to get him to stop, BECAUSE NO ONE CAN STOP HIM!!!

I didn't realize who he was until a couple months later I received a threatening phone call from an "Ernesto".
I was just trying to move on and re-establish a new business domain. He was laughing and threatening to hack my computer and generate porn email again (which he had already done once to me and destroyed my reputation with my host and my business and I was thrown out of the hosting company for generating porn email!)

He then stole the domains of two of my clients and said, "I have complete control of them now, and if you want them back you have to pay me AND release your domain." (he means the one I purchased that warns the public). I purchased a domain with his same business name, except dot org not dot com. But I refused to be intimidated and refused to release it.

An individual informed me that the person I was dealing with by the name of Ernesto at Avidhosting IS Ernesto Haberli! THAT is why my site generated porn because HE is a porn spammer!

So presently my clients have lost their domains to this (IMO) criminal and ICAAN or anyone else cannot stop him. Google him!! And warn EVERYONE YOU KNOW to stay away from avidhosting.

If you want to know more about my problems with him, contact me and I will give you the link to my site. I want the word to get out there so that the same thing doesn't happen to anyone else and somehow, someway maybe he can be stopped.
