At the moment KVM over IP is looking like a expensive option so was thinking a KVM going via USB into one of my servers and is interfaced via windows would do the job... Any ideas if there is such as thing?
I've seen this a number of times. Just setup the console station like you would if you were sitting in front of it. Then use terminal services or WinVNC or something similar to export the console station out. The major issue is security. Preferably you willl want to limit access to the console server via a firewall or better VPN.
If you already have a KVM switch, then there are KVM over IP add-ons for some models.
One drawback of this approach is that you are running a full server/workstation just to provide KVM over IP. This brings with it the added management tasks of making sure the console system is well secured and managed properly. Should it crash or have an update go wrong, then you lose your remote console access. In this regard, I would favor a KVM over IP switch.

Ack you might of got this wrong. Im looking for hardware which is suitable for this? so hardware which a KVM would go into or an addon which would allow is.. Otherwise I might as well as a one port kvm over ip just connect to it.. I was just looking for a cheaper version than kvm over ip
