I have different priorities than most people, and unfortunately it seems there is no obvious answer to my needs, at least that I can find. I'd love to hear suggestions though.
I have a multi-million dollar website, and a few smaller ones. Cost is of no concern whatsoever to me, other than obviously if two choices are equal.
I don't care if I get "managed hosting" or standard hosting, but I do care about service. It seems almost like the more money you pay the less service you get.
So, I require...
- a dedicated IP
- 24/7 phone support located in the US
- servers located in the US
- Urchin stats
- me doing zero server/IT stuff (a dedicated server would seem a good idea but don't know anything about servers and have no interest in learning)
- frontpage extensions
In addition I want...
-- one of the top ten largest hosting companies
(in other words, I want to deal with a well-funded, reliable, solvent company -- an example might be Earthlink, except they have no dedicated IPs so they are out)
Is this too much to ask? I just want a top of the line host that offers the basic, daily Urchin stats (not the web analytics, but that would be fine too), dedicated IP, 24/7 solid phone support, the ability for me to edit .htaccess and do other control panel stuff.
Is there a top end host out there, or only these cheapo outfits?
Thanks for the suggestions, but Site5 doesn't have Cpanel and Hostgator (according to a thread here) doesn't have Urchin anymore, and is also a small outfit which interests me not all. I don't want some guy answering me on a cellphone...
Maybe another way to approach this is, is there a list somewhere of the ten or twenty largest webhosts? Dedicated, managed, shared, whatever...
Still, I'd love to hear suggestions. It's not like the list of things I want is a difficult one.
It's just hard to believe that top end, reliable hosting doesn't exist in this world.
I guess I'll add that I need less than 100 gigs bandwidth, so that isn't a big issue.
Managed dedicated server is what I would think I want, but again the real priority is that I know zero about hosting and haven't any interest in it. What i read about dedicated hosts is they seem to expect me to do stuff. I want to do nothing with hosting. I will do "webmastering" stuff like editing files and setting permissions, but I don't want to basically even know anything about my "box", let alone deal with it.
Liquid Web says: "No Control Panel (Self-managed)" which definitely makes me stay far away, or at least makes me wonder why they would have such an off-putting line on their website. What exactly does that mean?
"On a dedicated server you can install what you need,"
Again, this is exactly what I have no desire for. I want a host that will have installed the Urchin daily statistics program. It's not my business to deal with stuff like that. I want to pay a company to do my hosting work.

To clarify, our NetAdmin control panel is based on the Cpanel platform. It's basically Cpanel + Site5 modifications (that's the simplified explanation, anyway ).
