    Dual Server Setup, help and suggetions pls .:)

    Hi,

    i have two servers.
    i need some advice before i install the 3rd party softwares.
    sorry i am abit new to dedicated servers
    and you guys would have come across these type of setups before.

    SERVER 1

    Dual opteron 240
    2GB PC3200 Registered ECC RAM
    2 x 146GB U320 SCSI harddisk
    100 Mbps port


    SERVER 2

    Single opteron 240 (Dual CPU motherboard)
    512MB PC3200 Registered ECC RAM
    1 x 146GB U320 SCSI harddisk
    100 Mbps port

    Server 2 will be upgraded in the future.. to Dual CPU's
    What is the best configuration, for this softwares with HELM ?
    for example would this work ok..

    MS DNS (Primary)

    SERVER 2 (HELM Remote Server) - w2k3

    MS DNS (Secondary)

    MS FTP
    Coldfusion
    ASP/ASP.Net
    PHP
    Perl
    Stats (Would i need stats software on both servers)
    Shared SSL
    IIS Password

    Server 1
    IP 1 - Helm (helm. domain.com)
    IP 2 - NS1 & AWStats (stats. domain.com)
    IP 3 - SMTP/POP3/IMAP & Webmail (webmail. domain.com)
    IP 4 - Shared HTTP/FTP & Shared SSL if used.


    Server 2
    IP 1 - Helm (helm. domain.com)
    IP 2 - NS2 & AWStats (stats. domain.com) - do i stats configured again ?
    IP 3 - Shared HTTP/FTP & Shared SSL if used.


    any way i can reduce the number of IP's being used ?

    have i missed any required software?

    any help or suggestions would be most welcomed

    Hello -

    I dont think you have missed anything. Your above setup looks good and thats what I suggest you. You dont require Helm control on the second server. Just make it as a remote. Also just have awstats on the second server. I dont see a reason why you require it on the first server.

    Hi,

    what do you mean when you say i dont need a Helm Control on the second server...?

    but i would still need two HELM lic's ?
    one for each server ?

    or just one..

    not 100% on Control and Remote config?

    Hello -

    I mean to say is you'll install Helm Control on one server and Helm Remote on the second. You'll be requiring 2 licences.
