311 boyz...

I can not believe what I saw on tv. They are called the 311 boyz, and I could not understand why anyone would want to do what they did. All the hitting, and kicking, and almost killing some people. Do a internet search and you will see what I am talking about.

Though then it comes to a question... Why on earth do they do this? Are the that stupid?

We have some real problems in this country that need solving. Their parents will excuse them!

No offense intended, but this is a HUGE blanket statement!

The links supplied, I agree, are horrid! May justice be done here!

You don't have that bigger problems - quite a number of countries have this kind of problem... it'll never go away completey.

Things like this are just shocking; and what makes it worse is that they don’t believe what they are doing is wrong. It’s like they’ve no qualms about it at all.

Indeed. Though I watched a fascinating program the other day showing how all this stems from some really bad incident during their childhood followed by the parents losing control over them after that incident.

Yup watched it on NBC News as well then searched for "Stephen Tanner Hansen" and came up with that same link to ReviewJournal.

Those "311 boys" all should have been sentence to a 5 year maximum security prison, now we'll see who gets beat up.

Yeh, things like this are just shocking. I often blame it on the parents. I can bet you that all of those kids hads problems with their parents. (Significantly)

Oddly one of the news articles I read about these animals listed some of the punishments the law has handed down to them. For the most part it was all community service, probabtion, or fines - no jail time.

Seems it's time for the judges to step up to the plate and toss these losers in jail to rot away for the rest of their lives.

Actually, the article I read said the judge refused to accept the terms of the plea bargains the boys initially made, which would not have included jail time, and sentenced them each to one year.

When the victim asked the judge why the sentences were so light, the judge responded how their lives would be very difficult as ex-cons.

While this is true, once you've been convicted of a felony you're not allowed to vote again in the U.S. and you'll be lucky if you can find employment better than sweeping up the nearest no-name fast-food outlet, that seems more in-line with repeat petty offenses, and hardly seems appropriate for repeated violent offenses.

These boys seem to have the money and connections that the prosecutor certainly considered letting them avoid jail time, astonishingly. That is a shock, hopefully the voters in Vegas won't be re-electing their D.A., that's about the weakest effort at prosecution I've ever seen for such repeated, coordinated violent crimes by a single group of boys.

Had it been a group of gangbangers prosecuted for a string of violent assaults, I seriously doubt a plea arrangement avoiding jail time would even have been on the table, and only one year behind bars unheard of.

That's good news - maybe the article I read was older. Still having a difficult life as an ex-con seems a bit outrageous. I'm sure that one kid who's now partially blind due to his beating won't be too happy.

Their parents have money, I highly doubt they'll ever have to really get a serious job...will probably work for the family buisness.

Awful sentencing couldnt disagree with it more.

That's the same victim who stood up and questioned the judge's ruling, so yeah he thought it was B.S.

The same thing is happening in Colorado now. The 'gang' of suburban white boys who murdered their friend and his grandparents a few years ago are back in the news, due to their lenient sentences. Apparently, they were 'misguided youths under the influence of a charismatic ringleader', something you just never hear of when it comes to inner-city gang crime.

Fork that! They killed two octogenarians and a teenager in cold blood, all participated even if only one pulled the trigger causing the fatality. They should all be held culpable.

Let's hope the 'family business' is even slightly gambling-related. Ever since Vegas got serious about giving the Mob the boot, having a felony on your record these days means you can't work anywhere near gaming devices -- not even the video-poker machines which flourish everywhere, or so I've been told.

Although this prosecution does call into question how serious they are about cracking down on anything in Vegas. It certainly sends the wrong message, and I find myself thinking of "A Clockwork Orange".

I never knew that if someone is convicted of a felony, they would not be allow to vote.

I know that if only the parents and the boys were left on a island, the parents would be upset with other parents for their son hurting their son. Then those parents will start fighting each other to protect their son....especially when they should be the parents and start setting some ground rule.
