frontpage 2002: i can't publish web!!
can anyone give me a direction as to whats wrong?
i've looked all over the net for the answer... but nothing.
i'm trying to load my site (which is parked, and my web host is brand new). maybe since its brand new, i have to set something up in the control panel? i have no idea, as im a true newbie at this.
and i've got my page ready on my frontpage program here. all it is is a home page, with a picture, a name, and a hyperlink: CONTACT. which leads to an email. or should.
when i try and select PUBLISH WEB (as i read i should do), the option is blurred out. as well as RECALCULATE HYPERLINKS (as i was told to do also).
the idea was to ftp it to the webhost, or however you call it. and they DO have frontpage extensions.
ok, any help would be amazing
have you entered the info for the remote host (ftp.yourdomain.com or the IP, username and pass)??
Is your FP web actually a web? it sounds like FP did not create a web & this is just a folder.
Do not FTP into your site, this can corrupt your FP extensions. But you do not need them unless you are using some FP components, especially forms. You also might search Frontpage Forums as well.
haha , no.
what is all that?
Well usually when you start a website in FP you go to File - New web. And where it will create everything for you. Now, once this is done, you can copy your files from the explorer into FP.
well, its created. saved under: myname.htm
now i just dont know what to do
im checking out those forums though
Now you should be able to publish. But your home page should be named something like index.html
You went to file - new web? And then File - Publish? what version of FP?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh i got it!
it was under FILE - RECENT WEBS - and then just choose.
now i have to type in the destination
let me figure it out
then i;ll write again
i write the destination: http://www.myname.com
they tell me my host might not have extentions.
but they do.
and are enabled.
What happens if you go to file - open web - http://www.example.com ?
