Some quick questions...
Ok, using linux, what do you think is best:
Ok have 1 hard drive for the system, say 1 - 250gb hd
Have 1 - 250gb hd for mysql
And have 2 or 1 250+gb hds for users directory for say apache...
What would you suggest is the best way to go about this... I would say get big fast hard drives, and do it?...
Why do you feel you need 1 TB of space on a webserver?
And if you're looking for fast drives, start thinking SCSI and adding some dollar signs
Just saying, what are you're standards, say, if you want to host 500 per server, would you go with that configuration?
Well you'll get this from most everybody, it all depends on the types of sites you are hosting. That's way too much storage for a web-server though.
500 clients on average using 100mb a piece = 50,000 mb or for simplicity's sake 50gb.
The typical setup would be something like dual 80gb HDs. One for the server, one for backup.
