    * Become Site5's Webmaster (Seriously!)

    Hey All!

We're adding to our incredible team at the rate of about one person per week. Here's this week's opening (and boy is it a doozie!)

Site5 is in search of a full-time "web properties maintainer" (a.k.a. webmaster) to be, more or less, the person in charge of our sites. Job description: Rod Armstrong's personal slave... ermm... I mean.... assistant! Many of you are familiar with the work of Site5's illustrious creative mastermind and graphical sorcerer (not to mention the brains behind many of Site5's ingenious business strategies).

But don't get the impression that it's not an important job: the new Site5 Webmaster will be in charge of all Site5-owned websites--from constructing the site framework (likely some basic PHP stuff) all the way to the content and graphics (Rod gives you a Photoshop file and you perform surgery on it to make it into a web-friendly layout). And yes--you need to know enough about web hosting to be able to write intelligently (and eloquently) on the subject.

Most important skills for this job are:
    - Photoshop ninja training
    - Thorough understanding of HTML
    - Mastery of CSS and all that goes into making standards-compliant and "clean" websites
    - Ability to use Javascript to enhance user experience (not required, but preferred)
    - A knack for style and good-lookingness. If your websites look like they belong on Geocities, that's not good.
    - The ability to take creative license and still maintain the spirit of the design vision that Rod gives you (if you need an explanation of this, that's probably a bad sign)
    - A fun-to-work-with personality (just like the rest of us--right?)
    - A love for web authoring, and perfectionist personality type.
    - A computer, reliable Internet connection, and somewhere that you can sit and work for 40 hours a week

NO DESIGN FIRMS PLEASE. We are looking for a full-time, dedicated individual who is interested in becoming an integral part of the rapidly-growing Site5 Team.

If this sounds like you, please do send an email to [email protected] with samples of your work, as well as a list of skills and resume if you have one.

    Best of luck!

    Matt

Hahahaha, well I wish Site5 best of luck in their search for a talented ninja.

And if you couldn't make the post any better...

That was really a great finishing touch Even Site5ís competitors seem to enjoy your personal, successful, and humorous approach to the web hosting industry.

    A few questions.
I take it this is a work from home job. Any preference as to location/hours to be available online?

For overseas applicants what is the tax scenario? will site5 submit tax returns to the relevant government or is it down to the applicant to oversee this?

You specify 40 hours per week. Do you have further projects in the pipeline that will keep the applicant in employment? or does the position just involve overhauling, streamlining, and SEO work on your existing sites?

If there are projects in the pipe then is all work under NDA and non compete agreements or is there the possibility of percentage based pay based on the project?

    Regards, Eamonn.

    Heh, thanks.

Actually we have three full-time joke writers on staff, so it's pretty easy to keep the humor flowing. We've found that laughter is a pretty effective substitute for knowledge, ability, dedication, respect, innovation... medicine, books, high-level concepts, etc.
