I just got a VPS and have been setting it up. So far I understand everything except for the DNS stuff.
If I want to set it up so that someone with the domain (adomain.com) that is hosted on my server can put in ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com and have their domain point to my server. I also need to know how to make the email, ftp, and other stuff like that work.
I am running Plesk 7.5. What should I do? Anyone know of any good tutorials?
Plesk usually automates that stuff. Just try adding a test domain with ns1.yourserver.com and ns2.yourserver.com (ns2 wont actually work afaik - you have to host secondary offsite etc) but I think plesk automatically does it.
I think so. with my limited experience with plesk - plesk automatically hosts an ns1 dns server on your domain. Just like it automatically hosts a pop3 server on mail.yourdomain.com and webmail on webmail.youandyourclientsdomains.com etc. Can anyone else confirm this? Documentation on plesk is sparse.
Also consider contacting your host's support about this.
