I was wondering massive hosting providers and internet providers are providing free URL forwarding, does URL fowarding use bandwidth, because I tried to "experiment" with this using a low level traffic website and no bandwidth has been used. The one bandwidth question is DNS, do queries in DNS use bandwidth or if I host DNS service for a friend, will my bandwidth be used, and will it be used for their site, like a normal hosting account.
DNS uses next to no bandwidth unless you are recieving a good number of queries a second. so basically no, what you want to do would use a minimal amount of traffic (in general it wouldnt even be noticed). If you were doing DNS/forwarding for a large number of domains then yes you would notice it, but it would still be a nominal amount compared to actually hosting the domain.
