I am Looking to buy one for a teacher for retirement.
Anyone have any recommendations? Under $300 preferably.

I tried searching, but most sites dont list prices.

I would like recommendations as to which to get.

    Thanks.

Other fine pens.. such as cartier.. etc, will do.

To actually write with, I recommend the Sanford Uni-Ball Vision Fine. As a sentimental gift for a lifetime of work, I would look at what store carries these high-zoot pens and can provide engraving and a nice display case. Then buy whatever comes closest to the $300 budget. There's probably some store in New York that carries that stuff.

Basically, it's like the Rolex of pens.

I found a nice place in NYC to get them: http://www.joon.com

But they don't offer prices on their site.. I did send an email asking for several prices.

I am looking for model recomendations, if anyone had experience with any of these high quality pens.
Disgruntled.. that is a nice everyday pen, but it's not a gift [$1.23] lol.

But a pen is a pen? So long as it writes, what is the difference? $300 for one?

I for one, know that a Mont Blanc is :

    1. Gold plated
    2. Platinum tipped
    3. Needs ink
    4. Writes
    5. Is hella expensive -- but makes a nice gift.

Or you could simply by him a nice uniball pen for $2.50 a bottle of plong for 10 to 12 bucks and pocket the rest.

I don't think Mont Blanc allows authorized retailers to list prices.

You might try googling for "Montblanc Meisterstuck" (w/o the quotes): The black fountain pen with 18k gold nib would make a terrific gift, although I suspect it'd go over your preferred limit. Much less pricey (definitely under $300), and certainly no less likely to bring an appreciative smile, is the Meisterstuck ballpoint, also very sharp in the classic black resin.

I prefer a Bic: can lose and snooze ;)
