Secure domain?
Hey all
I've read this forum for a while and haven't gotten a really good picture 'bout the domain owners security.
So, how(or) can i(even) be 110% sure my identity is secure and hidden from someone who want's to find out who i am?
I'm starting a site that has to have 112% secure that my identity(the site owner) is kept hiden. Can i be sure that my identity is not solvible(or how you rite that) with the domain "Make Private" options?
Sorry my bad english. Hope you'll understand my point

A very good start is to get whois protection from established services like protectfly(RegisterFly.com) or domainsbyproxy(godaddy). Both have clauses written into their agreements that is you use the domain name for illicit purposes they will cancel the service and reveal your info. As long as you are not doing anything questionable both of the aforementioned services should be well suited for your needs.

As far as I know namecheap only gives free whoisguard service only if you register a domain name. I mean if you just push the domain name to another account, you will not get the whoisguard service for free.

You need to be wary of services such as whois.sc which archives whois information as its possible they my obtain your details before you get a chance to hide them.
Registerfly gives you the ability to add whois protection upon registration wich means your details are never revealed for people to archive.Last edited by Dan541; 06-06-2005 at 08:44 AM.
I could tell you a joke about UDP. But I'm not sure you would get it!

Almost foolproof (but expensive) is creating a Nevada Corporation with bearer stock (no record of the stockholders). You have the corporation formed with an attorney as the nominee officer so the corporation's name will show up in the whois as the owner of the domain name. The corporate records (which are available on the web, too) will show the attorney's name as the President, Treasurer, Secretary, etc. So your name doesn't appear anywhere. Your privacy is then protected by the attorney - client priviledge between you and the attorney.
Don't expect too much protection or help, though if you drag the attorney's name into a child porn or other illegal website.
My question is... who does business with sites that hide the identity of the true owner? I certainly don't do business with companies that use whois guard services. I want to know who's getting my hard earned money. You may delay, but time will not. --- Benjamin Franklin

Now when you guys are starting to drag child porn into my site
It maybe a good idea to let you know that the site is not 'bout anything illigal. It's kind a relating to philosophy.

BTW... historical whois information also seems to be available from Dialog for a fee: http://openaccess.dialog.com/ip/form...mainNames.htmlYou may delay, but time will not. --- Benjamin Franklin
