Would resellers here be willing to write some new reviews on their web hosts so that newcomers to the scene may benefit from the sharing of the latest reviews?
A lot of the reviews available on WHT are old and probably outdated since some of the hosts have changed management, or have gone down/up in quality of service, or may not even be operating anymore. So these reviews are often not accurate.
A lot of reviews are also from those who have just joined a host and is mostly on the initial signup process and initial contact with the host. Although helpful, it is probably more important to have reviews on longer term support and service from a host.
Perhaps some conditions for the new review may be helpful. For example, the reseller must have been with the host for a minimum of 6 months. In this way, when newcomers are looking for reviews between now and end of this year, they can be referred to reviews that were made since Jun 2005. Come end of the year, another round of reviews can be added.
The thing about reviews on the forums is you simply do not see that many good ones sadly. If the person is happy with their hosting they tend to not worry. We're still seeing plenty of bad reviews which are an attempt to get the hosts attention since the poster knows the host posts on WHT. I'd say there is probably a 10:1 ratio on terms of bad to good reviews.
So I don't think it really gives anyone a good idea of who's good and who is not. I think the method of people asking about a host is the great way to go about it since more people tend to post about how this host was good bad or whatever.

Maybe there should be a specific section on WHT dedicated to host reviews which sort of guides you through with questions like "If you used support, how long on average did they take?" etc. Would this improve the quality?
I don't know what will improve the quality of the reviews.
It is just that when you use the search feature to find reviews, you may get lots of good reviews from a year or two ago for a host, but then you see a lot of recent bad reviews for that host. Maybe as pointed out, its just that people are complaining more these days than to give credit.
So, the old reviews may be out of date, hence the suggestion for a fresh round of reviews.
I feel if you can narrow your choice on your shortlisted host or narrow down on what type of host you are looking for, then you might get some good reviews. Else it would be very generic review you would be getting.
So what type of hosting you are looking at, plus what are your expectations!
