I called the number, and someone answered, "Hello, welcome to the Internet! My name is Mario; how can I help you?" It was quite odd, especially considering their status says "offline".

Err... now it says "live". That's weird. I wonder what the heck this is.

EDIT: By the way, he had a very strange accent, almost like those Chevy commercial announcers from the 50s -- sort of "faux British".

Ask them where the unlimited hard drives are, hey.. if they're the internet, they have all of the knowledge. There must be one somewhere!

    Kyle?

Anybody any ideas why they've set this up?

My only thought is that is an easy way of selling a product to a customer...

I did a google search to see if this name came up elsewhere and a few places said it was just some dude on the other end there just talking about "whatever". Maybe this guy is bored and when he is on-line he wants to talk to different people on their nickle. Kind of a chat room.. maybe he will get lucky and get some fun conversations. Heck it is free for him right..

Or perhaps it is a scam designed to get phone numbers on their caller ID so they can sell them and make tons of money.

Good thinking.. Never thought of that.. very smart.. I wonder if the Do Not Call list prevents them from calling you if you called them first..

That's why I called on my cell phone; I don't get telemarketing calls on it. It also doesn't show up on the other person's caller ID sometimes.

I, too, wonder about the stipulations of the Do Not Call list in this context. Perhaps it was more ingenious than we thought.

What's he gonna say? "Yes. That's exactly what we're doing. Since you've figured it out, I'll stop now."?

LOL! I would rather try the collect call.
Perhaps, this is just a way to run up your phone bill. When the phone bill come out, let us know if it was a 10 dollars flat fee and 4 dollars per extra minutes. Let us know if the money went to keeping his website up.
