    BIOS detecting CPU wrong

    In one of our racks, I have a Dual Xeon 3.06 (512kb cache) - it's an older Dell 1750 and I have a Dual Xeon 2.4 (512kb cache) - it's a supermicro

when I check CPU (cat /proc/cpuinfo) - they both show up as Xeon 2.66 ...

is this a Bios Issue? I expected the 3.0 dell to detect it as a lower proc but the 2.4's?

Make sure the FSB in BIOS is set correctly.

    Strange.

When shipped from Dell I found they're usually fully configured. For one to be underclocked, and the other to be slightly overclocked, I find it weird.

As CyanoX suggested, try checking the FSB - usually a BIOS setting or a jumper/switch on the mobo.

the 2.4's might actually been mismarked "meaning they're actually 2.66s" but the 3.06's are underclocked *shrug*

Did you check the FSB in BIOS or as shockuk suggested, check the jumpber settings on the motherboard?

I'm not there right now - sent a ticket in to onsite techs. I'll let you know

    The Broadband Man,
I'm just wondering how it went. What was the problem and solution?
