What advertising methods are you currently using?

The only exposure my sites are currently getting is from search engines and link exchanges. Link exchanges are a great way to boost traffic to your website. At the same time, the more links you get linking to your site the better you will do in the search engines. They are also free! I am also advertising in directories like espotting and a few others which bring in abit of traffic.

We get the best ROI from word of mouth advertising. We spend a little bit of money to provide our customers with a quality service, and they go out and handle our sales

I must agree that word of mouth is a very powerful and effective method of advertising. I'd say about 80% of our customers come from word of mouth.

    It's true,

This all depends upon how we nurture our customers, always by way of something more than their expectation. Customers also interact with each others as we interact, and they scan and exchange their information, hence the word of mouth is going to work powerfully, no doubt.

Personal networking. I like to rub elbows with other business people here locally, many of which either are in need of my services, or know somone who is.

And these are the kind of potential clients who know the value of the dollar, and the value of good service.

what about new formed companies? We had a lot of difficulties at the beggining until we got a couple of customers , then more and more , then we spent a lot $ on advertising and now as already said , our customers recomment / advertise us.

I think it snowballs. Our first few customers were just friends of mine online who needed some space for various things. They told some people, some of whom signed up, etc. Of course we did some advertising, nothing major though; I have my signature here on WHT and occasional posts in the offers forums, which has brought us two customers so far from WHT.

But mostly it started with those friends telling other people, those people telling others, etc.

I also agree on word of mouth, appealing to your customers and keeping them happy always brings in more to come. Also, building connects with a lot of people through the net has also helped me, because I was once a big part of the "Anime Community". I don't expect you all to understand that or have even tempted the concept, but it does help.

If you want to build up a high image for your company, you better start advertising in newspapers or those free pages (free weekly ads) if they are available there in your region

Joint ventures advertisement is a new breed of advertisement, where two or more same business interest group can join together wishing to go on for a big advertisement jointly collaborates with each others for mutual benefit.

It's time and cost saving both, for the same business interest group and enable them to choose even a costly advertisement in a broader way jointly for which an individual can not afford doing it alone.

    Another good one is to higher people who post in popular forums in your niche a lot to change their signature to advertise your company ;

Sorry late night, hire someone. Why unethical? You are hiring someone to put a text link to put on the bottom of their sig post, its a common practice.

Which is against WHT rules -
Your signature is your signature. It is not for sale or rent.

Sorry, did I say to do it here Aussie Bob (I didn't)? I'm not promoting the use of it, just pointing out one advertising option, it might be unethical who knows, it is being used though. If not here then other forums, espicially gaming ones.

Ah ok, ya i bet its against the rules a lot of places but I know on some webmaster forums the issue was raised and its hard to say well that person can't say "Site Hosted by X" on the bottom of their sig, and is that advertising or so on. Line hard to draw sometimes on deciding what is blatent advertising on a sig when its not allowed. But we are straying off topic
