    Getting VOIP

I'm thinking about getting VOIP service from ATT CallVantage.

    They charge $29.99 per month.
I will be canceling my phone line, but my question is, don't I still have to keep the basic phone service open with Verizon?

    Thanks

If you have cable, then you wouldn't need to keep your Verizon line.

If you're considering trying VoIP, try Vonage. It's the second service we've had, and it's by far the better of the two. We use it almost exclusively for business and "long" long-distance calls, and why not? It's only $24.99 with unlimited minutes throughout the U.S. and Canada. The quality is better than that of a cell phone, but can get worse at some times than others, especially if you have cable, since you share the line with your neighbors. But during the weekdays, it's great, and on the weekends and weekday nights, it's not bad.
