I think ADSL2+ can go at 25 mbps actually, it's crazy. I dont know when it will be around here, i'd have fiber at my house if Telergy didnt go out of business (the company who planned on doing residential fiber here).

Verizon has just recently rolled out their FIOS (Fiber) in a few communities. You can get more info here http://www.verizonfios.com/. You can get 15 Mbps down, 2 Mbps up for $50.

Bulldog have 8mb for about £40 , so with the cost of fiber optics and all the rest, we are looking at £200.
However after a few months, prices will plumit. We will just have to wait and see

having said that 6 mbit by next yr is definately a possibility, depends on the marketplace which is what really drives these things.--

Wish i lived there.
NTL will upgrade to 6mb by next year if there is a market for it
and there will easily be a market for more speed. Ill be on it straight away. "I feel the need, the need for speed".

sure bulldog can offer 8mb if you happen to be camped inside one of their llu'd exchanges. The technology is advancing but there are limits and it will take time. Rolling out adsl to begin with was a large investment , as was the recent upgrading of congested ubr's on the cable network. There isnt the same demand for 8mb that there was for 512kb when we were all on dialup. To be fair if you NEED 8mbit and its not for a commercial application youd probably be better off investing in an anne summers store card. I was on 750kn and very happy with that. I didn't complain about a free upgrade to 2mb, but Id be hard to justify paying anymore then I currently do for an improvement in speed. Theres simply no need. There will be a natural progression over the years with providers leap frogging each other, but its more likely that the changes you see in the next year or two will be what is sent down the pipe not the size of the pipe

I just went to verizon fios website.
It looks pretty neat for that speed and $49.99 a month, I am paying $49.99 a month for adelphia's cable, suddenly seems so expensive.

I personally would benfit from a higher in speed connection as it would allow me to play online games faster and smoother and even run my own server at a nice spec.
But yes I can see ur point about price I too wouldnt pay extra. but I was qwite glad to get upgraded free to a 3mb line so im not complaining either.
Yes, in Korea you can get 50Mbit connections for home use.
Its not all about speed etc, you have to think about quality, and remember you get what u pay for.
