I'm just curious what everyone's opinion on the following is.
I purchased a live help program 2 years ago. I stopped using it for a while as that was not what I needed back then. Just recently, I have found a need for it, but did not have the ZIP any more.
So I logged into the members area to download the program but was surprised that there was no link. My support expired in mid 2004, but my license never expires... but I was kind of surprised that I could not download any versions at all as the same message has always been there:
"Licenses do not expire but after this date you will no longer have access to updates or support for this license."
From my understanding 2 years ago as it still is today, is that I will not have access to NEW UPDATES or SUPPORT ISSUES. It does not say that all downloads will be disabled.
I submitted a ticket and asked politely if I could be given the link to latest version that I was entitled to. The answer was no, and that they do not archive software for the customer. The author said it was the same as if I had bought the disk and had lost the disk...

Of course there are more details, but the story is pretty much dead on. I'm not going to mention the program/website yet but all I can say is that I'm very disappointed... Spent $80USD for a program that I cannot even use.
If I were told that DOWNLOADS WOULD HAVE EXPIRED, I would have kept more than 2 copies of the program - both of which have been corrupted.

COLES NOTES: Never told download link would expire. License useless because have no copy. Author refuses to help.
PS: I was going to renew my license because I wanted the updated WINAPP but the author's attitude has left me thinking twice. Wanted to try the older WINAPP because there wer NO SCREENSHOTS...
