Yup, we're seeing a similar thing. About 5 minutes ago I could not get to www.enom.com. Now I can get there but get the same server timeout error. All sites using their DNS are down.

eNom is good as a registrar, but their DNS is getting really bad. Time to move off their DNS.

Yeah, same here. Early today their frame redirection wasn't working, the reply I received at 3Pm was as follows:

    Hello,

It looks like there is a problem with dns replication that may be the cause of or contributing to the problem you are experiencing. Our emergency team in the NOC is investigating this as we speak. I will advise once I hear back. Thanks for your patience.

Still haven't heard back, and of course it was a holiday so no phone support. I freaked a few minutes ago when I couldn't login, thinking my login had been compromised....and again, of course, the password retrieval doesn't work at this time, so since I didn't get an email, I was doubly sure it was hijacked.. Glad to see it wasn't and y'all are having issues too

that really does suck to be using enom's dns so much traffic is being lost and they really could care less. I saw eariler that it was redirecting to an enom site so they were taking the traffic

Does anybody have any idea how to do that without downtime? I tested moving a non-important domain away from eNom's DNS a few months ago. As soon as I changed the nameservers from "Use eNom's Nameservers" to my own, eNom deleted the domain from their DNS, and the site was down for 24 hours.

At the moment, the DNS appears to be intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Well, Amir did say they had emergency staff working on it....but that was 9 hrs ago.
All of our domains registered using Enom DNS seem to be pointing to our default parking page.....not where some of them should be going, but better than enoms page...

Update on the situation from Amir:

Replication across databases in dns was completely down for the last 12 hours - updates to zone files for any record type did not take effect, and are slowly starting to. That means any change - including from reactivation of expired domains, setting parking, zone file updates, setting or changing URL forwarding, changing host headers, and even some name server changes were delayed.

This stemed from someone taking advantage of the a new 45-day free .name trial period and that the slowdown is due to us adding 1 million host records to the main database and then having that replicate to over 15 dns servers, so it is taking a while for the information to get propagated to our dns constellation

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I am unable to see newly registered domains,
    it says something like this:

    Number of names returned: 5
    Total number of names: 8

while domains pushed to another account are still in the previous account, but total number of domains in another account is increased, but domains are not there.

(I clicked Go to domains that start with: a,b,c.., and found thoise domains as well, {but in both accounts})

You too, eh? I was really panicking, and then came here to see others complaining about it...several tense moments though.

Seriously, I don't have alot of time so if something like this goes wrong I would be in trouble. I was planning to register 50+ domains tonight for my office but now I'll just wait and see what goes on.

Right now I can login to my Enom account and make any changes to my domains. If you are unable to access Enom's website you should try accessing through a resellers PDQ website.

Agreed, all the people I talked to yesterday are no longer reporting an issue, and I dont see any issue with any of my domains as of late last night.

The only thing happening now is that they are serving up pop ups on domains that are being re-directed. This was suppose to be shut off but not anymore.

I would suggest you people check your domains for this.

I am really suprised when I see this thread.
Most (if not all) of my domains are using enom DNS, and I didn't notice a single downtime.
And it's not just me, I have just checked access logs of all websites with domain using enom's DNS, and I don't see anything unusual in traffic at all, it means all my visitors aren't affected by this.
Perhap it happened to certain domains/accounts only?

We manage close to 300,000 domains with enom and there was definitely an issue there across the board. If you didn't notice something you must have been sleeping.

Enom is aware of and looking into this. No need to contact them, as any fix would be a global fix, not a per account fix.

I have a few domains that use enoms dns and I didnt notice any downtime either. My ISP (comcast) had a few problems during a relatively same time period, but I know it wasnt enom as it related to them and their IP block.

However the domains I had (and that I checked at least) that pointed to enoms dns all came up fine, and there were several forum postings on the site leading me to assume that others could get there too. Perhaps it was geographically localized to all but certain areas?

Yes it appears all of our URL framed accounts are fine, with no popups on any of them at this time. Following is the closure notification of issue:

    Hello,
Our development staff have indicated that this has been corrected and everything should be working fine now.

Due to the volume of cases received on this error, we will close this case. If you continue to experience new errors or additional troubles, plus submit a new case with details and we will research.

We do apologize for this inconvenience.
