RaQ550 Buffer Overflow Protection daemon is not running
recently one of my RaQ550s comes up with the following error:
The Buffer Overflow Protection daemon is not running.
Does anybody know a way to fix this?
Is this the one that was a XTR but loaded as a 550?
No its a real 550 which is running for about two years without any error.
I presume that you posted a message on the Cobalt mailing list too?
I see a guy having the same problem as you.
As suggested you should run a chkroot to see if there are any errors on your server.
they are much more experienced than I am on this matter, maybe you should wait for their reply?
Chkrootkit 0.45 does not find anything and a reboot only helps for a few minutes.
The server itself seems to run normally.
On reboot what are the error messages generated after rebooting? If it is forced shut down thre should be somethind generated in the /var/log files.
I already searched for errors in the logs, but i could not find any...
You could have some configuration errors or someone has disabled that option. ( hacker? )
Does your access logs for SSH or TelNet show you any logins thats not your IP address? ( Most properly not... a seasoned hackers would have already wiped out his traces... )
Each time the buffer overflow protection daemon fails i get this error in /var/log/messages:
