    EIDE "optimization" and problems..

    Hello,
    after switching on EIDE optimize option in WHM my server is crashing frequently in weird way - server is responding to pings, and my ssh connection is not getting off but seems to be "suspsend" - I can't do anything.

    This happens when I'm trying to make backup via cpbackup script.

    Can you tell me how can I fix it? My hdparm output now is:

    /dev/hda1:
    multcount = 16 (on)
    IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
    unmaskirq = 1 (on)
    using_dma = 1 (on)
    keepsettings = 0 (off)
    readonly = 0 (off)
    readahead = 8 (on)
    geometry = 10011/255/63, sectors = 208782, start = 63

    /dev/hda2:
    multcount = 16 (on)
    IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
    unmaskirq = 1 (on)
    using_dma = 1 (on)
    keepsettings = 0 (off)
    readonly = 0 (off)
    readahead = 8 (on)
    geometry = 10011/255/63, sectors = 2104515, start = 208845

    What should I change to make settings a bit less agressive for hdd's?

    Put DMA off perhaps? Im sure cpanel would trigger that on to optimize it.
    It's Scott!

    Finnaly, I turn on UDMA and switch IO suppoort to 16 bit and all works fine. Thanks.
