    Importing from excel to MySQL

    Greetings,

    I have an enormous amount of data in an excel file and I need to put it in a mysql database. I could cut/paste with a web form but this could take a few people a week to do. Is there any easier way I could just import it?

    Thanks in advance for any advice!

    1. First make sure that all the fields in your excel file are in your table in your MySQL database. Also make sure they are in the same order.

    2. Save your excel file as Text (Tab delimited)

    3. Then in MySQL after you have selected your database type :
    load data local infile '/filepath/textfile.txt' into table YourTable ;

    Change the text in italiics to refelct your text file and its file path and your table name.
