Having Mirrors of website
Hi i was just wondering if someone has a .com a .co.uk site is it worth copying the content so it is on 2 seperate websites???
Or is it better for the .co.uk site to be transferred to the main.com site when a person visits.
I basically mean is it better in terms of SEO rankings and also localised marketing OR does it confuse customers????
What is the best option???
Good question that I would like to read a response to also.
Google doesn't like identical content on different sites. So that is something to consider, as it may affect your search engine position.
Don't do duplicate sites, or you might be banned altogether. If you want a vanity domain, redirect it to the main domain using a 301 redirect.
Google is very strict with that and it is even advisable to do a 301 redirect from your non-www to your www domain (or conversely, depending on your preference), as Google might see them as duplicate.
Mark is correct you can be banned for having duplicate sites.
