How often do your charge your phone?
Pretty self-explanatory -- how often do you charge your cell phone? I got one of those prepaid cell phones recently (don't laugh.. service is extremely unreliable here, and I don't get service at home so I didn't think it was worth getting anything better). I don't talk on it much, but it's on all the time and I have to recharge it every other day. Is this normal?
EDIT: If this should be in Technical Issues or the Lounge please move it there. I figured that cell phones were partially business issues, but I could see where it could be somewhere else.Last edited by CArmstrong; 05-26-2005 at 06:55 PM.

Thread moved to the Lounge. You should get a lot more feedback here.
My phone needs charging every other 3 days, but it's a rather old Alcatel. My girldfriend's new Nokia phone on a LiIon battery needs to be recharged only once a week.
Charging it every other day is pretty much unacceptable. Something must be wrong there.

I have a Motorola T720 and I have to charge it about once a week.
This is mostly because I only talk on it about once a month, I don't like telephones.Haven't been on WHT for 6 years!

I have Virginmobile using the Audiovox 8610 phone. I get maybe two days of standby using the 1000mAh battery, which Virginmobile claims should be good for 7 days. The optional, bulky, 1700 mAh battery gives me three days.

Do NOT let a LiON battery fully discharge before recharging. You can damage the battery. WHile this is a common practice with NiCAD and to a lesser degree NiMH which have a "charge memory", taking a LiON battery to 0 charge capacity prior to recharge can severly shorten it's life. This includes PDA's and laptop batteries.
Most older phones, especially analog are NiMH or NiCAD while most newer digital phiones use LiON batteries."Obsolesence is just a lack of imagination."

Thanks for the input NyteOwl, I need to look up some documentation on this. The phone is extremely low-end -- again, service is spotty at best and I didn't want to invest a lot in the beginning. I'm now seriously considering other plans that service my area, but nobody I know gets service at this end of town (we're in a sort of valley).

I charge my battery when the phone shows one 'bar'. This is usually around every 6 days.

3-4 times a week; it depends if i have a long talk on it, i'll need to charge within the next day; but if i dont i can just every other 3 days or so but i like to have a full bar so 3-4 times a week anyway

I charge about once a week. Sometimes I forget and run out of power. That's when my car adapter comes in handy!

I charge mine nightly, and I usually have 3/4 of a battery when i plug it in. Its habit because I like to be reliable. I dont charge the phone on the weekend, because I dont use it as much. I consider that my maintenance for the battery.
You are unique, just like everyone else.
