Before I go to my local bank for a merchant account…
We have been using paypal for almost 3 years now so all other payment methods/process are new to me. We decided to go for a merchant account (I think the word ‘merchant account’ correct here) from my local bank to accept credit cards. Before I go to my bank and discuss this, I might need to know…., what are other program/s and ‘other things’ I need ( if my bank is willing to give me merchant account) from where can I get them and cost ..etc..
About our business, we provide service to other webmasters mainly and payment can be from 10$ to 2500$ at once and 20 – 60/per months and we are in Europe.
The higher end ticket items might "frighten" your bank some. You also might look into Worlpay or Barclays. If you are doing about $30,000 a month though, it is pretty easy to get a merchant account in Europe
Actually most processors will not care all that much on third party processing.
Besides the merchant account - and depending on the type, you will need an SSL certificate and an electronic payment gateway (like protx, Verisign's Payflow, LinkPoint, and Authorizenet.com). The latter three probably will not be available to you but I just wanted to give you those names since they might be more known to you
