Blocking unwanted guests
Well, I have LogWatches that look something like this:
There were a few other infractions too, but obviously I want to stop at LEAST the major ones. I added all of them to my iptables:
root (184.108.40.206): 544 Time(s)
unknown (220.127.116.11): 10 Time(s)
root (18.104.22.168): 928 Time(s)
unknown (22.214.171.124): 493 Time(s)
unknown (126.96.36.199): 108 Time(s)
unknown (82-70-96-217.dsl.in-addr.zen.co.uk): 69 Time(s)
unknown (188.8.131.52): 59 Time(s)
Is there anything else I should do? (running on CentOS 4)
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
DROP tcp -- 184.108.40.206 anywhere
DROP tcp -- 220.127.116.11 anywhere
Whois the IP's and send the logs to the abuse contact of the ISP.
Install BFD and that will automatically block them from the box after so many invalid login attempts.
