domains410.com nameserver (whois.parava.net) not updating, support not responding
I'm trying to move my web site to a new host. I've changed my DNS through the control panel, and this change has made it to the root nameserver and the rest of the Web -- but whois.parava.net still shows the old nameservers (five days later).
This is a problem because my new hosting company won't host the new domain until whois shows their DNS servers.
I've tried setting the DNS again, submitting a Trouble Ticket from the control panel at domains410.com, emailing them directly, even sending a fax to their fax number -- and after four working days I've still received no response to any of these attempts.
Meanwhile, my domain is still in limbo and all my email is bouncing.
Has anyone got in touch with them lately? If so, how did you do it? Everything's been fine with them up to now, but this is really cheesing me off.
The root servers have the new DNS. The rest of the Internet appears to have the new DNS. However, whois.parava.net (domains410.com's nameserver) still reports the old DNS. I don't really know how this can happen, but it's stayed consistent for several days.
What comes up at dnsreport.com is:
FAIL -- Lame nameservers. ERROR: You have one or more lame nameservers. These are nameservers that do NOT answer authoritatively for your domain. This is bad; for example, these nameservers may never get updated.
FAIL -- Missing nameservers 2. ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers.
This is exactly what you'd expect, given the above situation.
It's clearly a problem on domains410.com/parava.net's end. Somehow their whois server has updated the root server but still gives the wrong answer when responding to whois queries.
Also, it's not possible to transfer my domain from them, because they default to REGISTRAR-LOCK and you can't change that from the web control panel. The only way to change that is to contact them, and as I mentioned, they are not responding to any of their listed points of contact.
I'm disappointed, because everything has been smooth with them for several years, and I know that quite a few people on this site have registered through them. I'd be happy to stay there if they just FIXED THEIR WHOIS SERVER.
If I don't hear anything today I'm calling the phone numbers on the zone contact. This is just silly.
Another update: I finally found a phone number from dorking around with whois, and to my surprise, tech support answered the phone. The rep was very helpful and basically said "Oops, looks like we need to sync that. Should only take a few minutes."
Well, this is great, but it's two days later and whois.parava.net still shows the old DNS -- no change.
Fortunately I got my hosting company to host the domain anyway, and my email and site are back online. But this is still cheesing me off...I shouldn't have to deal with any of this.
Looks like their whois server has updated as of this morning.
I'm glad they finally fixed the problem, and that they actually answer their phone when you need CS.
I'm disappointed, though, because I never should have had this problem in the first place, it took me a week to get it fixed, and their online email/trouble ticket help system appears to be completely dysfunctional.
