My friend was looking for a host asap and we came across spoono's hosting plans. They are known for a good tutorial site for coding really. Recently though, about 3 days ago, they open up there web host. Plans seem nice enough for my friend as he only needs 500megs of space and around 5-7gb of transfer a month. What concerns me is this pagehttp://www.spoonohost.com/about/testimonials.php.
Only three days and the information on the site looks false. How can I convince my friend to pick another host since this site looks a bit suspicious?
This is Akash Goel from Spoono.com. I personally coded and worked with Brian in making SpoonoHost.com. I'm not quite sure what the problem being faced at WHT by you guys, buy hey, I'm going to try to clear all of it up for you guys Hope you guys don't take it personally.
As hopefully most of you guys know, Spoono has been around for quite a few years and we've had dedicated servers for over 3 years. We were at RackShack for a year, in the beginning, then followed by going to BURSTnet (with noClab). Recently (about a month before launching SpoonoHost, we switched to ThePlanet.
Since we have had dedicated servers for a while, we've helped a lot of people who've contacted us with hosting services. Dating back to over two years ago, we've helped sites like Ameri-Source (owned by a friend of mine), as well as ShooBeeDooDoo.com stay online by letting them use our servers, and helping them out with support whenever they experienced difficulties with their sites.
When we actually decided that there were a lot of people interested in hosting, we decided to open one up ourselves. Getting help from people, we set up our hosting site.
Ok, lets go through the speculations people have made:
1. The BurstNET picture was actually sent to me by JB at NoClab.us when we were still hosted by them. If you want to check the history, we were on BurstNET till a month ago (you can check on Spoono.com grapevine when we switched [Brian's post April 19th]). Unawaringly, we changed the text but forgot to change the pictures. Sorry about the mixup.
2. Testimonials - I e-mailed three of the people that I hosted on our servers from over the past 2 years to help me out, and since we've hosted them, I told them to write a nice blurb about us if possible to help us get started. I took them and copy pasted them in. I personally know all three of the people. If anyone wants, I can provide contact information for these three people (IM me at AIM: akashgoel) who I have listed:
a) Tom Diener - works at Ameri-Source, around Pittsburgh where I am from (about 20 mins from my house).
b) Joshua Winters - goes to Univ. of Pennsylvania where Brian is a student and helped him make the site
c) Marianna Anderle - an under grad student at Univ of Michigan who I helped build a PHP site with and get it up.
All these three sites helped us beta test SpoonoHost when we were testing and were impressed enough to write us a testimonial. Again, contact me if you want their e-mails/phones/AIM to ask them yourselves.
3. ShooBeeDooDoo.com - Marianna wound up switching out of our hosting site (to 1and1 which is free) because she didn't have money to pay us.
4. Aplus.net testimonial - I contacted Josh Winters about the testimonial and asked what's up with copying the testimonial. It seems that he asked me what to write about and I told him to go check another site to get some ideas, and obviously being a *prestige* ivy league kid, decided to just copy one. Again, everyone is welcome to IM me or email me ([email protected]) to get his contact info. He was happy with our service.
Hey, I hope that clears everything up. We're really just starting out and are take full responsibility for Josh's error and will take it down. I still believe we provide *excellent* service and I hope we can prove it to you. I want to thank all of you guys who found these minor errors on our site and hope you all welcome us to the hosting community. Thanks and Sorry for the mistakes.

No pressure from me. More often than not I'll tour through a few hosts websites only to find conflicting information (such as the picture deal). It's not a big deal (The Planet has a much better looking DC, you really should rip pictures from them), but it is still to a point not very honest.
I used to use spoono on a regular basis for tutorials, and I'm sure that if your hosting service is 1/10th that of the quality of a lot of your tutorials that you will do extremely well!

We absolutely don't! Oh my gosh! Not to be rude, and we're used to people ripping off our stuff from Spoono.com, but this is outrageous!
I PERSONALLY guarantee that I wrote the Why Choose Us? myself a while back! Wow, just emailed the guy who owns totnescomputers.com! This is completely out of control. That testimonial just trails off on their site and doesn't even go anywhere to finish it off!
