RaQ XTR reboots continuous after update to RaQ550 OS

    Hello,

since I updated my RaQ XTR to RaQ 550 OS it reboots continuous on "starting clock".
Do anybody know what is wrong with it?
A OS restore does not help...

Does it happen only on the raQ550 OS or does this happens on the XTR one as well?
Could be the CPU not sitted properly.

    Hello,

if I choose the ROM as boot device the XTR works without errors.
If it is booting from disk it hangs...
I already tried the disks of another XTR with the same result...

Maybe the upgrade or conversion from the XTR to 550 was not successful..

How did you do the conversion??

I did the conversion via the OSRCD.
Another XTR is running without any problems...

i highly suspect that your motherboard is faulty...
I had a RaQ4 that acts like that when i did a restore, it would jam on the added RPMs and then says its OK and reboots on me every 30minutes....

Any errors from plugging in a null modem cable?

The serial console does not show any errors.
It seems as if the server reboots without warnings or errors.

So its working? or does your null modem connection just show a blank screen.

Recently we had this problem too on a RaQ4 which after I check was some corrupted files on the boot up system which caused it to jam at "booting"

Had to use my Backup HDD, mount the old file systems and transfer the user files.

The null modem connection is working and does not show any errors.
    Another surprisingly thing:
The server does not show fans and temperature in the ActiveMonitor.
If I insert its HDDs in another XTR it shows me both.
"fans" and "sensors" are not shown in /proc/cobalt.

I don't really ahve expereince with converting the XTR to 550 but then converting RaQ4s require you to do ROM upgrades. Was that needed?

If you inserted the HDDs from the faulty one to anotehr and it work, it could mean that the problem could be the main board.

Yes a rom-upgrade was needed before the restore.
Should I try to upgrade the rom from command line?

During this upgrade was there any error messages or anything un-usual?

because if the HDD from teh faulty unit works on another RaQ's motherboard, what i suspect would be the hardware itself.

Have you checked your /var/log files to see what triggered the reboot?

    Reboots

Check your CPU fan. I had the exact same symptoms (without the recent upgrade), and found the CPU fan stopped.

Another problem I encountered, but on a RaQ4 was a burned PSU to Motherboard connector. ( rare but may happen )
