HELP: Need BEST DediSvr With a CDROM Drive

    Hi all,

I have a tricky one for you. I want a top-notch East Coast Dedicated Server which has a CD-ROM drive.

I need to have a special CD in there at all times (not just install).

    My prefered cities are:

    1. NY and surrounding, by far, such as NAC or in Peer1 NYC
    2. Chicago, such as Steadfast or ColoQuest
    3. Asburn such as superbservers

I'll be using this server for VoIP, so the quality of the bandwidth is key.

Any suggestion would be MUCH appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Helios

    Hi,

I'm not sure of any providers who say they do this, in public anyways. You might want to try contacting some providers and ask if they can do it for you. Good Luck!

Are you planning on booting from the CD? Something like the Asterisk Live CD?

Bocacom can be a good choice, and they have CD ROMs in their servers (they've inserted Windows 2003 and FreeBSD CDs in my servers).

We have CD-ROM's on our Dell 1850's, but not in anything else. It's generally not a common practice to have CD-ROM's in systems.

The server currently isn't listed on our site, but is has been metnioned in a special and it can be ordered by contacting us directly.

The issue was resolved several days ago. We are also still looking at adding another provider, possibly AT&T, to assure the issue never occurs again.

Uhmm are you being sarcastic? That's wasting 1U of rackspace to locate a CDROM?

Again, depending on what OS you're using it is possible to virtualise the CDROM, so you don't have to have a drive, you can simple make an ISO and mount it.
