I'm running a Dual Xeon 2.8 with 2 Gigs of Memory. Apache 1.3.3 with RHE 3.0. A few times a day Apache will slowly eat up all the memory and swap then crash the server. I have no clue why it's doing this. I can watch the available memory slowly drop until it crashes.
HTTPD also stays up in TOP the whole time unlike my other servers... here is what my TOP shows right now...
1164 root 20 4 38584 13M 3520 S N 0.1 0.6 24:55 3 httpd
On my other servers I see HTTPD multiple times and it only shows up for a few seconds, on this one there is only one process for it and it sits there eating up memory till it crashes. 24:55 is the TIME on it.
Anyone have any ideas why it is doing this, is it a simple setting I'm missing?
Usually, memory leaks are caused by mod_php or mod_perl, you should set "MaxRequestsPerChild" to a reasonable value like 100-500.
