I have received a strange email from one of my hosting companies. Any help? R/o pls.
I have received this email from my hosting company. I bought my domain when I signed up with them ( I mean, I didn't buy it and them transfer it to my hosting nameservers).
I don't know what this mail means ( English is not my mother tongue) or if it could be any kind of spam/phising or similar?
Hi and welcome aboard....
Our api system is not set up yet for domain names so I will need to transfer the domain name to you. There is no additional cost involved but you will need to create another account for managing your new name heremydomain.com
Please go to this link and create a new account, then send me the personal information you entered for the account so I can transfer it to you, if you use the same information you entered for the hosting that will make things very easy. Please be sure and send me the exact email address you register with so the verification emails will be sent to you.
Just want to add my 2 cents worth about Donnie and Hostdoggy.
I have known Donnie for quite some time, and he is a top notch guy, and runs his business as such. Not sure what is up with the email, but know that he has been making some changes recently.
That said, it is always a good idea, to email your hosting provider when getting any kind of email that you are unsure of, espicialy one that is asking for personal information, and be sure that you use an email address that you know is one of theirs, there are a lot of scams going on, concerning domain registrations and SSL certs, so just always be sure who you are dealing with when giving out your personal info.
