Any idea why do i get this error ?

Hi All,

My sites dont load up via HTTP but iam able to do ftp etc. and when i went to cpanel to see service status i get this :

Server Status apache (1.3.33 (Unix)) failed

Is this something really serious as iam not a geek here and i have sites which have visitors so iam a bit worried that if i choose a right host (i recently changed over to this host).

Please advice !

Sincerely,
ChatBox

you have to configure your httpd.conf to allow these, and its not usually on by default:

Code:
<IfModule mod_status.c>
  ExtendedStatus On
</IfModule>

<Location /server-status>
    SetHandler server-status
    Order deny,allow
    Deny from all
    Allow from .your_domain.com
</Location>
take a look at your httpd.conf, it'll probably be commented out in there (a # before the line)

hi.

cPanel runs a process (chkservd) that check certain services every 5-8 mins and restarts any failed services. When a sevice fails and is restored by chkservd it will still shows as failed until the next ckeck.
chkservd only checks the services every 5 or 10 minutes - can't remember which. If you want it to update immediately however, just log onto SSH and type "service chkservd restart" - that'll update the status indicators in WHM.

Thanks for this update I finally left that company (varhosting.net) and am now awaiting a refund from them for the pathetic service they provide.
