Files/Folders in /usr/src that are deleted but show on locate

I have deleted some files/folders which are no longer needed in /usr/src/ however they still
seem to show up on the locate command.

    Any ideas?

You need to run updatedb command which will update database used by locate. Usually this script should be run once daily or weekly from cron.

locate depend on the updated slocate database that keeps a snapshot of the files and directories under the / (root) and when asked , provides informations from that.
