Over the past 6 months I have been working on a new web site project (A marketplace site for a particular niche group of people to sell a certain items)
Anyway, Everything is ready to roll, and I just got to finish the ability for users to purchase credits so they can list their particular items on the site. After many months of reseaching and polling these groups, we recieved a strong feedback from them so we know we are going to have a nice flow of traffic. My question is who would be best to use for us to recieve the payments that these users will be paying to purchase credits to list on our site.
I basically need a payment system that allows instant payment notification (IPN) so I can intergrate it right into our market place system.
I know about paypal, (Ive used them before) but with all the horror stories and so forth, I was also wondering do you think I should risk using them for this and later for some crazy reason have them freeze my account and I can't access it.
I was also wondering about 2CO? Do you think they would work.
Im basically looking at how would some of you handle this.
Most of the "Horror stories" you see about Paypal are due to the seller violating TOS in some way, or just not understanding exactly what steps they take to prevent fraud. ie making users sign up from certain countries, only taking a vaildated Credit Card etc..
If you are thinking of using them for a certain process contact them and explain exactly what you want to sell. They will let you know one way or the other if it is Ok or not.
Advice is great but they have the final say on what is allowed, if they say yes and later you have problems at least you have their original Authorisation that you can use to support your case.
