I'm considering starting a company offering Secure, Managed Servers. These servers would be resold Voxrox servers running the latest FreeBSD 5.x -- the target customer would be one with just a handful of large domains (~5) who would like very secure, locked down systems.
I'd like to get some feedback from WHT regulars on the demand for this.
You could use my mail server for your mail needs or
Servers will be installed with the Mail Toaster package of services (imap, pop3, smtp, pop3-ssl, imap-ssl, webmail, etc.)
You could use my DNS servers for your domains (managed through the nictool web interface) -- or I could fully setup nictool/DNS on your machine.
The OS itself would be locked down with proper partitioning (lockdown exec on /tmp), and sensitive paths and files set not world readable, enhancements to various system configs (sysctl, syslog, etc.)
All daemons would come secure and locked down with custom configs: apache2, ssh, pure-ftpd, php5, mysql41, etc.
Email users would be managed by the client through qmailadmin.
Continued support would include any vulnerabilities released for FreeBSD or any application installed through ports (as reported by portaudit) -- and would be upgraded within 24 hours.
24/7 monitoring of server and services, with 30 minute turn-around on paging.
I would provide Email, IM, Ticket System Support with < 24 hour turn around;
cell paging for emergencies, < 30 minute turn-around on escalated issues.
Weekly upgrades of all ports and packages to latest versions.
Weekly review/overview of box performance and security.
Daily off-site backups would be performed and transfered via ssh.
I'd like some feedback on what to charge for this, on top of the monthly dedicated server fee -- I was thinking a couple hundred dollars/mo, (no extra first month setup)
