Im sure im not the first one to be scammed and not the last one. Anyway, The point of opening this thread is to make you more carefull when doing business online and also to point out the scammer.
He is a member here at wht with the username workaholic and owner of hostlance.com.
He was interested in buying my turnkey site highcareer.com for $130. I asked him to send the money through westren union because I need it fast and take out the fee from the $130. He said he will send half now and half later when he get the site !!
This is where I say: no need for this. I will push the domain name to your account and then you send payment. When I have the payment, I will setup the site for you. This turns out to be a mistake.
I did push the domain name and it has been more than a month now. First two weeks he was giving me all kind of excuses and for the last two weeks he has been ignoring me. He simply dose not want to send payment or even return the domain name. He is online on msn chat all day. So he can't be busy or sick !!
I did contact wht moderators regarding this and they asked me to open a thread here and warn other members.
I know you will all say that its my mistake to push the domain name before I get paid BUT:
I have sold many sites here and in other forums for xxxx amounts and I always get payment and then transfer the site. So if people can trust me, why can't I trust them. It turns out that not all people are alike.
By the way, I sold a site for xxxx last week and I pused the domain before getting paid but the guy did send the money.
Sorry to hear about your problems. Because we start thinking of other WHT members as our online friends, it is easy to be take advantage of. But a community like this attracts bad characters as well as the good.
Hope things work out - but I sort of doubt it after a month. You still need to be careful.
Originally posted by Flumps could you not write to the domain register and send them the logs of the transaction etc and explain the situation and get ur domain back?
I hope not because this could open up an entire new precedent for others. Let's say senaia bought the domain name for the person - it was paid and everyone is happy. Now the person wants his domain name back so he writes to the domain registrar to explain the situation.
