If the RaQ is hosting a similar domain, say www.example.com, and the mail server alias "example.com" is left in the site settings, sendmail will see that mail from the RaQ to [email protected] can be handled locally and attempt to deliver it there. It will never do the DNS lookup to find the MX record pointing to the other server.
As the poster said in a later message, that email server alias was left in place. Removing it solved the problem.
