    FTTH / FIOS Implementation

I am looking around for companies implementing this technology in various residential areas, that may be selling endpoints at various facilities. I haven't done any research so far, but I assume there is at least a single company out there which has started on this.

    Excluding Verizon.

    Probably start here (beware PDF):

The quantity of "open networks" is probably a bit low. Grant County in Washington (see Grant County Public Utility District, which runs the FTTH project) seems to be one but they already have dozens of ISPs on-net.

In the Sacramento area, for example, one of the most prominent FTTH providers, Surewest, does not permit third-party access to their steadily growing FTTH footprint.

In short, the opportunity here seems quite narrow unless you own the infrastructure.
